MOODAVERSARY! >>> Week 1

Ok Folks! THE TIME IS HERE...

Jenn Engle & I have been gearing up for our One Year MOODAVERSARY for MONTHS. There's a lot of info to get through... but then you can watch my video!

Our Mixed Media Moods is a monthly collaboration between myself & Mixed Media Jenn where we pump up our youtube channels with high quality mixed media videos. Then.. we invite YOU to join us and link up below so we can visit your amazing responses!

Here's the low down:

First of all > Jenn & and I are SO honored that you have taken part in the Our Mixed Media Moods journey... we really just started off wanting to provide high quality in depth tutorials that could help other mixed media artists.. never did we really think it could EXPLODE like it has.

Since you've been such a huge part of making OMMM so awesome... we wanted to celebrate with you. All 2000 of you!  ^_^ HELLO! 2k friends... it's so cool to say out loud! haha.

We are starting this MOODAVERSARY with a giant over the top deliciously summer inspired Mood Board. It focuses around 5 colors and tons of summer graphics.

We even have some SPECIFICS for you of supplies (and color names) that we'll be using.

5 colors of paint: Martha Stewart Pollen & Granny Smith, DecoArt Americana Desert Turquoise & Royal Fuchsia, Folk Art Pink Melon

If you can believe it... Jenn & I are aiming to share a new project with you EVERY. SINGLE. DAY of this month's mood board. e.v.e.r.y.s.i.n.g.l.e.d.a.y.! with TONS of videos!

In addition we have some INSANE prizes to offer. And it will work like this:

Card Duo {7DS and Nature Walk}

I forgot to post these last week... I was up with the Tatiana on the 7 Dots Studio blog:)

I worked up a couple of cards using Nature Walk and some neutral colored embellishments. The card base is plain kraft colored paper with a layer of plain black paper. Literally just the cheaper packs of cardstock from Michaels.

The left card has been adorned with a Prima flower, thread, holes, a punched trim of Nature Walk, mica flakes, some May Arts ribbon, and a few random gem brads from my stash.

The left card also has a Prima flower, some Prima metal embellishments, May Arts ribbon, thread and mica flakes.

The cards were fun to work on, creating little splashes of embellishments. I left the sans sentiment, so I can write a quick note to anyone on the inside. ♥

I need to HEAR {7 Dots Studio CHALLENGE}

A new 7 Dots Studio challenge is live!!

This time it's all about the 5 Senses!

And I chose to make a card for Mr. DeeDee :)

And really... it use to say a lot more things about the other senses -- but I scaled it back for the public eye, haha. I really do love just hearing my husband's voice♥♥ Some of our days are long apart between our two jobs and one person needing to stay at home with our babe. It brightens up my day just to hear him. 

Supplies used : 6x6 Nature Walk from 7 Dots Studio, Pink Paislee black alphas, Prima Marketing Bark Star, May Arts Crochet ribbon, doily, thread, gesso, dymo label maker, My Mind's Eye ephemera.

Art Journaling -- Magazine bits

So --- I am plunging into art journaling and trying to just be more OPEN and FREE about some of my art process. 

I have a huge fine arts BASE from grade school through college, and only entered paper crafting after graduation. I really do enjoy both, but sometimes find myself being hard on the process instead of just going with it. So I started my art journal with a page about my path. 

It also happens to be my inspiration for the brand new scrapki-wyzwaniowo challenge! Which is also working out great, giving me opportunities to fit new themes for my work. This challenge happens to be about "Magazine inspiration" --- just adding in an element from a magazine. 

My magazine bit is this portion of text at the bottom that was transferred over with heavy gel medium.

Other supplies used include my Dymo Label maker, Tattered Angels mists (Sprayed and stamped using an UmWowStudio circle confetti mask), an Arrow from Nature Walk by 7 Dots Studio, Washi Tape, black thread, a paper clip...

A clay face, 7 Dots Studio alphas, a piece of chip from the UmWowStudio Floral Collection and a Viva Las VegaStamps! Spotty Background stamp in Memento Gray Flannel.  

I was definitely struggling with art journaling... trying to do it the way everyone else was doing it. But I just did what I wanted, and really enjoyed it♥

My Anchor - 12x12

Today I have a layout up on the Amazing Crafting Products blog that looks.. a little something.. like.. THIS:

I swear it's the most perfect title-less layout I've ever done. It's not TOO much, but it's not TOO simple. It just screams at me. Maybe because it's so full of my heart? because they ARE my anchor? My hubzilla and his mini me. 

The base is Glitz Design paper. I seriously adore this thick gray and cream distressed stripe. For the background I stamped the Directional Circle by Viva Las VegaStamps! in archival ink by Ranger, splattered some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Charcoal and laid down a bit of Tim Holtz's tissue tape. The thread has been adhered down with a fixative, which also secures the glimmer mist (it seems to smear rather easily.)

The Whimsical Cloud from Viva Las VegaStamps! has been stamped on a coordinating cream sheet of Glitz and trimmed out. I utilized some Scrapbook Adhesives foam dots for added dimension. UmWowStudio Star Confetti has been covered in Ranger's archival ink and adhered down along with some Prima Bark Stars.

And here you can see UmWowStudio Chevron Confetti covered in archival ink by Ranger, and an Amazing Crafting Products resin anchor. And here's some really FUN news --- we'll be creating this layout in a Class @ the Weekend Crop coming up for the Scrap Society!! The crop is full now.. but if you're local and interested in attending just let the girls know and they'll put you on the waiting list!
