Enchanted Objects | Mixed Media Moods wall hanging

Welcome to Our Mixed Media Moods!

It's a monthly collaboration between myself & Mixed Media Jenn where we pump up our youtube channels with high quality mixed media videos.

This month we have a guest joining us.. Aaron Blazevich of Imperfect Impulses. How cool is that?!

This month I made the mood board :

Of course it got a bit SPOOKY for the time of year.. I drew from the color the most.. the vintage rusty type vintage tones. I also drew from the tree / wood aspect and the moth insects. I worked up a mixed media wall hanging :)

EEEEEEEK I LOVE THIS PIECE SO MUCH!

Now it's really hard to grab a good photo of something long like this... So .. onto the video tutorial, then detail shots (which are REALLY good!) a supply list & a link up! We also invite you to link up and check out what other artists up to inspired by our challenge :) Videos welcome, too!

Travel The World {Hazel and Ruby & UmWowStudio}

We are HOP HOP HOPPING between Hazel and Ruby and UmWowStudio this week!

Get more details here

At UmWowStudio we designed a new product line just for the talented Makery team from Hazel and Ruby to use! Some great CHIPBOARD FRAMES that will be super uber duper cool to alter, turn into home decor, use to mat photos and would even make great mini album covers. (There's an intro video on the UWS blog) They will all be posted to the UmWowStudio site soon... for now we're inspiring you with ways to use them!

I created this little "mantra" style frame to hang up in my room amongst my gallery wall. I really do have this weird sort of desire to travel the world, and where I know a lot of people want to, I have no idea where mine came from. It sort of just crept up on me. So to remind myself not to forget, I have this little cutey hanging up now!

It uses the one of the brand new frames... this one in a Speech Bubble form! The frame back was covered in Prima Gesso BLACK and the front panel was adorned with Hazel and Ruby's Wrap It Up Maps of the World. I just applied a bit of UHU to the chipboard frame, overlaid the paper and then cut to size. I gave it a quick sand with  my Prima distress tool.

The center embellishment of my frame is made up of two sized doilies (one from Michaels and one Doodlebug Designs mini,) a layer of black thread and then a little chipboard concoction. The tag comes from UmWowStudio's Blank tags and has been covered in the Pass The Tissue Chevron by Hazel and Ruby. I tied the top with some May Arts Ribbon and finished it off with a piece of Chipboard from the Love Tags set and some Heart Confetti.

And the whole bit was finished off with a sentence to keep me focused. The end! :)

My Anchor - 12x12

Today I have a layout up on the Amazing Crafting Products blog that looks.. a little something.. like.. THIS:

I swear it's the most perfect title-less layout I've ever done. It's not TOO much, but it's not TOO simple. It just screams at me. Maybe because it's so full of my heart? because they ARE my anchor? My hubzilla and his mini me.

The base is Glitz Design paper. I seriously adore this thick gray and cream distressed stripe. For the background I stamped the Directional Circle by Viva Las VegaStamps! in archival ink by Ranger, splattered some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Charcoal and laid down a bit of Tim Holtz's tissue tape. The thread has been adhered down with a fixative, which also secures the glimmer mist (it seems to smear rather easily.)

The Whimsical Cloud from Viva Las VegaStamps! has been stamped on a coordinating cream sheet of Glitz and trimmed out. I utilized some Scrapbook Adhesives foam dots for added dimension. UmWowStudio Star Confetti has been covered in Ranger's archival ink and adhered down along with some Prima Bark Stars.

And here you can see UmWowStudio Chevron Confetti covered in archival ink by Ranger, and an Amazing Crafting Products resin anchor. If you'd like specific details on creating the anchor, please hop over to the Amazing Crafting Products post. It's a bit o' resin, dye and powder. Well worth the blog jump!

And here's some really FUN news --- we'll be creating this layout in a Class @ the Weekend Crop coming up for the Scrap Society!! The crop is full now.. but if you're local and interested in attending just let the girls know and they'll put you on the waiting list!

♥♥ Until next time friends!
