Rainy Day {ArtJournaling}

This week's class was all about layering up water soluble products and how they'll continually react .. each time they get wet again. It's a fun and unpredictable process that leads to some great free journaling.

Be True (a 12x12)

Here's a layout I finished up recently :)

To inspire you using UmWowStudio for the Scrap Around The World challenge!

The base is a whole sheet of Prima Marketing paper from Epiphany with a tear and peek through piece of Coffee Break. The tag for the photo mat is also from Coffee Break. I've used quite a few mixed media techniques on this page.. but in minute amounts to keep the layout a bit cleaner :)

Behind the photo I've put done some splatters of a Prima bloom spray, some drywall tape, and some of Finn's german glass glitter in gel medium through an UmWowStudio Harlequin stencil. The photo is held to the mat with tape and paper clips. It's also been embellished with some leaves, metal bits and a flower from Prima AND a Be True stamp from Viva Las VegaStamps!.

I always feel like the HOLES of the tags are bare if they aren't embellished, but sometimes I want to do more than thread them with ribbon. On this one I folded over some May Arts Ribbon and adorned it with a piece of chipboard from the Leaf Stems set from UmWowStudio. The leaf stem has been covered in gesso and bloom spray. I topped it off with a prima flower.

A bit more Prima goodness finishes off the tear I put at the bottom... there's more of the Be True stamp, some paper reinforcements cut from Coffee Break, some beautiful thin white thread and some Say It In Crystals. Done, Done, and Doner!

Prima Marketing {March Special Delivery Box}

As a Prima Educator we get offered some really great opportunites... In the last week I got to play with some beautiful papers and embellishments via the Special Delivery MARCH kit from Prima Marketing.

I chose altered item as my avenue of inspiration for everyone and when the box arrived and I started digging through all the delicious contents, I came across a box with a flip cover that housed cards. I had originally intended to alter something like a matchbox or spool.. but when my fingers flipped up the lid and there was a small pocket inside to house the cards.. my brain exploded!

So I altered that beautiful packaging and it turned out like this :

And here's the inside:

I also recorded the process then voiced over with details:

And here are some fun detailed shots:

The box has BEAUTIFUL depth:

Artsy Girl #MyDollMyStyle

Morning everyone :) :)

The Prima Marketing Design and Education Teams have put together some awesome samples using the Julie Nutting Doll Stamps! They're totally customizable and the challenge awaiting you is to create a Doll in YOUR personal style or representing your country of origin :)

Simply post a JN doll stamp that shows off YOUR personality, or country, on social media and use the hashtag #MyDollMyStyle! (Tag Prima Marketing so they can share all of them!)

I chose to go more with my personal style rather than country of origin and here is my doll :

She's a very artsy girl full of sass and whimsy. My style tends to be very graphic with giant splashes of mixed media. I adore white and black paired together with splashes of color. I used the Candie doll by Julie Nutting.

Some watercolor paper, flowers, embellishments and bark stars make up the cluster on the tag.

And the skirt is where the real Mixed Media magic happens. I've used gesso, soft matte gel, metal trinkets, junkyard findings, bottlecaps, glass beads, glass glitter, cheesecloth, bloom sprays, markers, rubber stamps and more to finish off my artsy girl.

Prima Products: 3.5 x 8 Cling Stamp - Candie - 655350910792, Art Basics - Soft Matte Gel - 655350961428, Art Basics - Heavy Gesso White - 655350961442, Art Ingredients - Art Sugar - White - 655350961800, Art Ingredients - Art Sugar - Black - 655350961770, Art Ingredients - Glass Beads - Zinc - 655350961695, Art Ingredients - Glass Glitter - Platinum - 655350961664, Vintage Mechanicals - Bottle Caps - 655350960391, Numbers - 655350961138, Metal Brads - Engraver - 655350564698, Coffee Break - Cappuccino flowers - 655350578480, Natural Bark - Stars - 655350569303, Color Bloom - Sparkling Pastels - Storm Cloud - 655350573768, Junkyard Findings - 655350891640, Vintage Trim and rubber stamps, Other : Watercolor paper, black pen, adhesive, gray marker

In My Head... {Scrapki-wyzwaniowo challenge}

...are memories of days passed.

There's a new challenge over @ Scrapki-wyzwaniowo "In my head."

and I've based a tag from the prompt.

I've really found myself starting out a lot of projects on watercolor paper. It provides such a nice sturdy base for wet mediums. It really holds up well to the demands of my more mixed media style (especially as of late.) I diecut the tag using Sizzix and Tim Holtz's Tag die. It's been colored with Lindy's Stamp Gang magicals. There's a layer of Prima / Finnabair's heavy gesso through the UmWowStudio Damask mask on top.

The next layer consists of cheesecloth plain, and cheesecloth dipped in left over magicals deliciousness. Then a piece of chipboard from the Leaf Stems by UmWowStudio, also covered in Heavy Gesso and Magicals.

There is a Prima / Finnabair bottle cap fill with soft matte gel, glitter and glass glitter, and an Ingvild Bolme junkyard finding. The top of the tag is adorned with Larraine flowers and leaves, and new Prima leaves. There are also a few Prima brads from Engraver :)

And the bottom is where my 7 Dots Studio comes into play! From Finnabair's new Cold Country line I've incorporated die cut pieces to really help inspire and bring in the "in my head" portion of the challenge. Drawn on, distressed, inked, stapled and layered. :)

Be True To Yourself {Altered 6x12}

Hi folks! I've got a July Scraps Of Darkness piece to share with you today :) Have you stopped by to see the July Kit?

It's called BELIEVE and full of fun whimsical wooded type stuffs like moss, flowers, nests, nature rubons and more!

The first project I'm sharing is a 6x12 altered piece o' plywood.

I mentioned that the base is plywood, I picked it up from ma friend Tami! She already had it covered in gesso, so I was totally set.

I picked up the pink/red sheet from the main kit and trimmed it down a bit. Using Gel Medium I adhered it down. Then I scraped some of my Blick Gesso over the sort of... top middle right side? You can see it in the photo :)

The resin frame comes from Prima and can be found in the Embellishment Add On Kit for Believe. I used the Shimmerz Inklingz I'm Not Limon to splatter around the gesso and dunk into the crevices on the frame. Before I put away my geso and Inklingz I also altered a couple of the floral chipboard pieces in the kit, and a couple from UmWowStudio. You can see them layered to the top right corner.

Then came what I like to refer to as "Flower Throw Up" --- but if it's used in moderation it can have a really great effect, AND I don't do it that often, so it was fun! lol. I started with the gorgeous green moss from the kit, and covered a large portion of the resin frame. Then I piled up some of the Petaloo Flowers, some Prima flowers from my stash, a handmade flower from 7 Dots Studio Nature Walk, and a Prima Nest from the kit. whew. a lot of piling! I also stuck in a Tim Holtz Ideology Pin with a 7DS Nature Walk diecut heart.

There's one more piece of altered chipboard that trails down the board here. This one from UmWowStudio. I also added a hefty dose of glitz and glam with some clear sequins and eBeads. The sentiment is from 7DS Nature Walk's word stickers. And -- that's it! The kits are so great because they give a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and it makes it easy to add in some of my own (or YOUR) favorite little bits :)

Thanks for stopping by today!

May Arts | UmWowStudio | Avery Elle

Today we are hopping with May Arts, Avery Elle and UmWowStudio!

I've put together a tag utilizing the Air Mail Set from Avery Elle, some 7 Dots studio paper, Prima flowers and more.

Here you can see the Damask Mask from UmWowStudio.

Lots of gorgeous May Arts ribbon adorns this tag, including twine, cord and more.

The tag was outlined with a piece of regular cardstock and the two pieces of paper were sewn together.

This is the circle confetti from UmWowStudio which fit the "Just a note" Stamp from Avery Elle PERFECT!

Lots of goodness all week happening on tons of blogs! Be sure to see them all :)

Bloom Where You Are Planted {A tag}

I love the saying "Bloom Where You Are Planted" ... not because I think you should stay where you're born, or not travel, or anything like that. But I feel like we all have a certain calling, and it's our duty to the world to make our time on this planet a better time by answering it. Unless you're an ax murderer. Anyways... BLOOM in whatever speaks to your soul. In my case it's designing, arting, crafting, paper, paints, ink, stamps, chipboard... just to name a few things.

I definitely included "Bloom Where You Are Planted" on the words sticker sheet in my recent Nature Walk collection from 7 Dots Studio

I also DEFINITELY used it last night.

I created Nature Walk as a super vintage neutral collection ready for ink and color application of any kind to match whatever you're working on. I've seen a ton of great uses for Nature Walk and seriously drool over each and every one, but a lot of them have tended to the neutral side. SO I created a tag with vision :

The tag base is Cloudy from Nature Walk cut with the Tim Holtz Sizzix Tag Die, back and front, I just trimmed the edges of the cream side 1/8 of an inch all the way around. It's been distressed with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and splattered with Teel High heel Tattered Angels mist and some watered down gesso.

The giant turquoise flower is from Prima Marketing, and the leaves underneath are cut from Songbird using a brand new (to me) Magnolia Die: Summer Foliage. I've been looking for this die for quite some time!! The resin pieces are just something I had in my stash, not sure by whom. And that gorgeous twirly ribbon at the top is some Paper Cording from May Arts Ribbons.

Believe it or not, there is no UmWowStudio on this tag... but I did sneak in a Viva Las VegaStamps! favorite of mine : Sunflowers. It's been stamped using an Archival pad by Ranger Ink in black. And as a final bit o' goodness I doodled a thin line around the tag using a Sakura of America Micron 005.

So get out your color and splash some on Nature Walk!

(♥) Scrapki Card - STRIPS

Hiiiii!! Today is a new challenge over @ Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo and it's MY CHALLENGE!

I'm challenging you to... use STRIPS on your project. Strips of paper, journaling, fabric, etc. Just use good ol' strips somewhere! Then.. enter to win some BEAUTIFUL 7 Dots DREAMER papers!

My inspiration for you today:

The paper base is corrugated cardboard in white layered with a 6 x 3.5 inch bit of distressed 9th wave from 7 Dots Studio

 The strips really come into play with a bit o muslin I put behind my embellishing. On the right you can see a tear in the 7 dots along with some Prima goods (Junkyard findings and a white leaf.)

 The biggest cluster of embellishments is made of Prima Flowers, May Arts Ribbons (White Leaves and Tan Burlap Cord,) an Ideology arrow, MM jewel brad, and thread. It's all been made "cohesive" with a few sprays of Tattered Angels mists in Mustard Seed, Teal High Heel, Inch Worm and Tarnished Silver. Then it's been grazed with a bit o' white gesso.

 Here you can see two bits from UmWowStudio (Swallow and a heart speech bubble,) and one of my favorite designs from Viva Las VegaStamps! : Arrow with Stars.
