The base is Canson watercolor paper. It's been treated with a thin layer of Liquitex Gesso.
I created a horizon line using heavy gesso by Blick. I clumped it up nicely in some spots so that when I heated it with a heat gun it bubbled and created this delicious texture.
Then I gave it a wash of Deco Art's fluid acrylic in this gorgeous dark gray color. A bit of water makes that paint go a super long way.
After the horizon portion was dry, I applied a thin wash of water to the top portion of the page and spread out some Teal fluid acrylic by Deco Art. I also touched in a bit of Payne's Gray.
The two marry really well on the page.
The last two steps include using an Elegant Writer by Speedball to draw some fun circles in the background. I used a wet round brush to make them bleed... super fun. After they were dry I traced the outsides again to create some nice contrast. And I finished the page off by scraping some heavy gesso in a thin layer across some of the texture on the page.

I love how the dark grey gesso area looks like old foil. The blue against the grey is superb!
