Yesterday was Art Journaling Class! I love getting together with my local girls & trying new stuff... new layers, new techniques, new supplies... well I used this last week as a time to get out of my comfort zone. I default to acrylic paint pretty regularly... and I just got a whole slew of acrylic inks.. so I worked up this page in mostly inks :) I also subbed in some oil pastel, which gave my page a great warm fuzzy feeling! You may notice.. the color palette is also out of my norm.
yesterday was the first art journaling class of 2018 :)
I worked up this page before hand as a sample.
It's my take on the use of your junk drawer / left over / scraps cups! It really is a fun and super diverse technique that seems to have taken the industry by storm. My take is a bit more subdued than the way some of the other artists use it. Anyways!! watch the video, followed by closeup shots & my remade during class. :)
& then I decided to just have fun and layer things up >>> try a different combo etc in the remake during class. I love the color combo & am playing with the idea of adding in some black and a metallic for a more victorian/steampunk feel :
Some different sized paper clips, a grommet, a ruined needle threader... I love how the drywall tape looks & i'm a HUGE fan of the chunky chevron and those brads that act as a design element between the valleys of the chevron.
Always loads of stars for me... i LOVE stars. anything celestial makes me happy. & the hanging bulb was really fun to throw into the mix, too.
One of my FAVORITE parts is tucking doilies & flatter texture pieces on the bottom layer... then when the colors are spread all over it, the shadows become prominent & the highlights are accented.. YUM!
These little circles between the triangles are pieces of lego! hahaha... my friend Shelly brought them to class and was sharing :) The triangle pieces come out of the Penny Farthing's wheel.
