King For A Day {12x12 7DS}

Hello Hello!!

it's been a few days since I posted, and I meant to share this one sooner, but there's no time like the present!

I'm sharing a 12x12 that I created for 7 Dots Studio. It's titled 'King For A Day' and documents Gabe's 3rd birthday :)

The base is Dreamer by Finnabair for 7 Dots Studio with a layer of watercolor paper and stitching in black. I worked on the background with some masking tape, drywall tap, coffee splatters and a tiny splattering of iZink in gold, Then I stamped in Yellow Neon by ImaginCRAFTS, Walnut Stain Distress Ink, and Archival Black by Ranger with Illumination Stamps (7 Dots Studio) and the new Periodic Table by VLVS!.

Next was a bit of clustering and laying, you can see the stamping really in this photo. I also layered up stickers from 9th wave, diecuts from Nature Walk, From The Heart Flair by UmWowStudio, thread and sequins (some from Gauche Alchemy, some from Pretty Pink Posh)

The focal point of my layout is two photos of ickle goobaloob on his Birthday. He had a crown and everything! the top has been adorned with a crown from UmWowStudio's Photo Booth Props set, painted in iZink gold. I also gave it a few little crowning gems; stars from Star Confetti and a pearl. The alphas come from Pink Paislee (gold) and Domestic Goddess (square alphas.)

And lastly... the bottom right embellishing is more stamping, a splatter of those sequins and a yellow enamel dot actually taken from the center of Dear Lizzy's wooden buttons.

Art Journaling Class RECAP

Whoo!! we had art journaling class this past weekend with a whopping ELEVEN participants and some AMAZING art journaling!

I brought in a stack of 6x6 Amazing Crafting Products MOLD RUBBER printing plates and introduced the class to MONOPRINTING. We used good ol' craft paint in different colors, our printing plates, some cardstock and brayers. We also had stencils from UmWowStudio, The Crafter's Workshop and Stencil Girl, stamps from Viva Las VegaStamps!, Punchinella from Gauche Alchemy, Ribbons and Fibers from May Arts Ribbon and a slew of vintage laces, doilies and other bits to help us create one of a kind patterns in our printing.

After some instruction and demonstrating.. the class got to work and had fun creating their own prints. Here are some highlights:

And here are some prints of my own from the class time:

Let me know what you think of my prints! I'll be doing a video asap on a new technique I picked up -- can't wait to share it :)

COURAGE - Art Journal Spread {Class | May}

I thought it would be a good day to recap our Art Journal class from this past weekend. It was officially our 2nd Art Journal class, moving up from tags, and it was wonderful. We're working on a bigger surface, with awesome products and just having a great time. I'll go over some of the products used, and show you the spread, but you'll have to JOIN ME during class for details and instructions ;)

I based the class off this recently finished double spread in my own journal :

We introduced watercolor paper and Faber Castell Gelatos.

Here you can see a vintage Card Catalogue Card, a stamp, thread, washi tape from Gauche Alchemy and a Movie ATC Background chip piece from UmWowStudio. The flower is Prima, and pen is Micron by Sakura of America.

Here is the Damask Mask from UmWowStudio, and some gorgeous eyelet lace from May Arts Ribbons.

And thanks to our wonderful sponsorship from Viva Las VegaStamps! we had some great stamps to use. My 2 page spread contains the Bird Flying Left, Victorian Flourish, Color Wheel Lines, Writing Background and Waybill/Invoice Background. They've been stamped in a # of different things, including the gold gelato, and inks by IMAGINE Crafts (Smoky Gray Versafine, Black Versafine.)

Lots and lots of goodness!

We had 11 attendees this month, and it was such a blast seeing all the different spreads!

Be The Author

Today I'm sharing a layout over on the Berry 71 Blue blog as a Special Guest Designer. Stop by and check out what's happening >>> you've been challenged to handmake a flower! I was given one of Marivic's beautiful handmade tags and wanted to utilize it, so I grabbed a chic selfie of my little sister and got to work.

My sister Ashley takes the cutest selfies ever! I grabbed my favorite piece of Nature Walk : Musical Blooms and a piece of Limba Wood embossed paper I picked up @ Paper Issues, trimmed and adhered the two together.

Here you can see the AMAZINGLY beautiful handmade tag that Marivic (Owner @ Berry 71 Bleu) sent me. It's so wonderful. I used it as an embellishment cluster, but all the coordinating and beauty was done for me. If you're interested in getting one of these tags, Marivic says you can send her an email, she makes them by request! I added only 1/3rd of a Chipboard Doily and a Chipboard Six Inch Ruler by UmWowStudio.

And now.. my handmade flower! I've diecut some Sizzix Tattered Floral cuts of the leftover piece of Musical Blooms. They've been layered together and adorned with a bauble from Prima. I layered the flower on top of the other 2/3rds Chipboard Doily and some Washi Tape from Gauche Alchemy.

The alphas are from a 7 Dots collection and my Dymo Label maker. There's a splattering of Tattered Angels glimmer mist, and a My Mind's Eye epoxy brad. There's also a line of May Arts Eyelet Lace between the Limba and Musical Blooms papers.

And that's all folks! Be sure to handmake some flowers and enter over @ Berry 71 Bleu!

Dear 1 - Prima's Product Pick

Today I'm sharing with you a project inspired by Prima's Product Pick for January.

Glorious in blues and resin, fibers and some metal bits. I sort of went wild with this baby.

Here's my interpretation:

The base is from the North Country Collection my Prima, the flourishes are on the beautiful turquoisy paper.

Here you can see lots of goodness! The Burlap Twine and Gold Net are both ribbons from May Arts. The Chevrons are from the Chevron Arrow and the Flair is from the brand new Moon Shine Flair, both by UmWowStudio. There's a piece of Prima Canvas torn in the background, accompanies by some Washi Tape from Gauche Alchemy. I've layered up some bits from Prima including a Junkyard Finding water tap, and an Engraver Brad. The { w i t h   l o v e } is by Viva Las VegaStamps! (my design!)

I love adding little details to corners and areas around the layout. I've ripped up this corner and tucked behind it a coordinating sheet of colored corrugated board. More ripped Prima Canvas and another Engraver brad. The stencil markings and splatters around the page are made with Distress Paint in Antique Linen. It's been used with the Checker Board Mask from UmWowStudio.

I love these two deer so much.. they come from one of Prima's Resist Canvas sets. One has been colored with Glimmer Mist in Charcoal and the other with the Antique Linen Distress Paint. Both are outlined in a dusting of Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
And finally the top left corner. Prima's Bark Stars and drips from the Junkyard Findings Taps, Prima Canvas, May Arts Golden Netting, staples and some Washi Tape from Gauche Alchemy.

Well.. that's all the eye candy I have for you today :) Thanks for stopping!
