Altered Playing Cards {VLVS Swap}

Whoop! Lots happening all over... while one of my videos is saving this morning I thought I'd pop on over and share the Altered playing cards I did for the last Viva Las VegaStamps! swap.

The only theme was Royalty and I thought what better royalty than SPOOKY royalty!

umm.. BOOM!

My cards are made from actual playing cards.. the Jack, Queen, King and Ace of spades. I've sanded out the middles of each card leaving its identifying marks and then gessoed over the sanded portions. This gave me a really great surface for stamping. I stamped each VLVS! image (The Man on Swing from Plate 1463, The Intense Lady, and the Wolfman and Voodoo doll from Plate 1465) in archival ink BLACK by Ranger. Then they were embossed with a fine black powder and colored to resemble old movies with my PITT Pens by Faber Castell in three grays.

Each stamp was also stamped on a piece of sticky note to create masks. I then covered the appropriate stamp and sprayed with Distress Stain Spray by Ranger/Tim Holtz. LOVE the colors and the distress formula effects with water. I don't think I could live without them! I used Spiced Marmalade, Citron and Crushed Olive, Hickory Smoke and Seedless Preserves. Dash a little water and heat to create such a beautiful marbling effect? SOLD! ♥

Then I did a little more stamping with the Numbers Set to add some more dimension to the background... it's such a classic stamp and of course seemed to fit RIGHT IN with the playing cards.

 And I gave the Woflman a moon from the Moon Phases stamp. Each card also got a label.
